The official currency of Botswana is the Botswana pula (BWP). The pula is further divided into 100 thebe. Banknotes are available in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 pula, while coins are available in denominations of 5, 10, 25, and 50 thebe, as well as 1 pula.
When visiting Botswana, it is advisable to carry some local currency for day-to-day expenses, although major credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger establishments. USD, Euros, UK Pounds and South African Rands are also typically accepted.
